Privacy Policy

Overview

Evern is a terminal client that runs entirely on your device. We do not operate servers, collect analytics, or require user accounts. Your privacy is structural, not a policy choice.

Data We Collect

None. Evern does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Specifically:

  • No analytics or telemetry
  • No user accounts or sign-in
  • No advertising or tracking
  • No data shared with third parties

Data Stored on Your Device

Evern stores the following data locally on your device:

  • Server profiles — hostnames, ports, and usernames for SSH connections you configure
  • Credentials — passwords and private keys, stored in your device's secure keychain/keystore
  • Preferences — theme selection, voice input settings, and other app preferences
  • Voice model data — on-device speech recognition models, processed entirely locally

This data never leaves your device. It is not backed up to our servers because we do not operate any.

Network Connections

Evern connects only to the SSH servers you explicitly configure. All connections use SSH protocol encryption. The app does not contact any Evern-operated servers, CDNs, or third-party services during normal operation.

Crash Reporting

Evern uses Firebase Crashlytics to collect anonymous crash reports. These reports contain device model, OS version, and stack traces to help us diagnose and fix bugs. Crash reports do not include terminal content, server credentials, hostnames, or any user-identifiable information. You can opt out of crash reporting in your device's system settings.

Microphone and Speech Recognition

Evern offers optional voice input for terminal commands. Audio is processed on-device using Apple's Speech framework (iOS) or the bundled Moonshine model (Android). Audio data is not transmitted to Evern or any third party. Microphone access requires your explicit permission and can be revoked at any time in system settings.

Children's Privacy

Evern is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children.

Changes to This Policy

If this policy changes, we will update this page with the new effective date. Since Evern collects no data, meaningful changes are unlikely.
